The Tech & Permission Pre-flight helps prepare you and your computer for your upcoming exam experience. You will need to have your camera and microphone set up, as well as a valid Personal ID.

  • In the Rosalyn application, follow the Tech & Permissions Pre-Flight instructions. Click on the “Let’s Go” button to begin, and you will see a roadmap for all the steps you need to follow before starting the exam. Click on the “Get Started” button to continue.

Test your Tech

  • Next, you will see the Rules for your Exam as specified by your testing program. You have the list of forbidden actions and permitted actions.

  • In order to check your camera and microphone, you will record 5 seconds of yourself. You can do this by clicking on the start “Record Clip.” Once you record it, you can check it, continue, or Retry to record again. Please make sure to say a few words while recording yourself so you can listen back to ensure your microphone is working properly.

After you confirm your video and audio settings, you can click “Next” to proceed.

Note: If you are experiencing camera issues, check Rosalyn - Camera article.

  • Rosalyn will then “Test your Tech” to ensure you are ready to begin the exam. The system will check that you have the minimum internet speed required– 500kb/s for download and upload.

When your connection is sufficient, you will be able to proceed by clicking “Next.”

  • This step confirms that you have only one display enabled. Once confirmed, you will be allowed to continue. Please close all the applications that Rosalyn lists. You can either choose the Force Close (allows Rosalyn to close all open applications on your behalf) option or do it on your own. After closing all the applications, the “Next” button will be available for you to proceed.

Note: Learn how to close applications on macOS & Windows PC.

Verify your Identity

  • The last step is to take your picture and a picture of your personal ID in order to confirm your identity. Click the “Take Photo” button. If you don't like the picture, you can “Retake” it and click “Next

Note: Make sure your personal ID is visible in the marked window.
