Additional applications and devices are not allowed per exam rules. This article will cover how to close all running applications on your macOS device.

During the Pre-Flight, as you prepare to take your exam, the Rosalyn app will ask you to “Test your Tech.

You will not be able to proceed to the exam until you have closed all other applications. If you experience difficulty closing all of your applications, you can check some of the possible solutions below:

  1. Force Close Application Option:

Rosalyn has added a new “Force Close” button, which allows the examinees to choose to allow Rosalyn to close all of their open applications on their behalf.

A confirmation prompt will appear asking the examinee to confirm that they would like to allow Rosalyn to close all of their open applications for them.

  2. Close the Application through the Dock:

Sometimes applications remain open within the Mac Dock. To close the Application, right-click on the icon and choose Quit. A dot below the icon indicates a running application. Here is an example of closing Skype from the dock.

  3. Menu Bar:

Sometimes, applications remain open within the Menu Bar. To close the application, click on the icon and choose Quit. Here is an example of closing Skype and Team-Viewer from the menu bar.

  4. Activity Monitor:

You can also close applications through the Activity Monitor. The Activity Monitor can be found in the application list or by searching for it using Spotlight Search.

    • Open Activity Monitor and find the application's process name you need to close. Select the icon on the left side and close by pressing the X at the top.

    • You can Quit the app or Force Quit the app. You can try Quit first, and if it doesn't work, then Force Quit.

    • Quitting the application should close all its processes, but you should check to ensure all processes are closed. If there are more processes with the same name, repeat the process for all of them.

    • Below is an example of how to close Teamviewer & Skype from the Activity Monitor. There is the main process, and it has an icon on the left side, but there are additional processes like

      • Skype Helper

      • Skype Helper (GPU)

      • Skype Helper (Renderer)
Note: Quitting Skype should close all additional processes, but if they do not automatically close with the main process, close all additional processes the same way.

  5. Last Option - Restart your computer

If none of the above options work, close Rosalyn, restart your computer and then return to your Rosalyn exam.
