Additional applications and devices are not allowed per exam rules. This article will cover how to close all running applications on your Windows device. On Windows computers, sometimes an application looks like it has been closed, but it actually still open. If you experience this, you can try one of the following suggestions:

  1. Force Close Application Option:

Rosalyn has added a new “Force Close” button, which allows the examinees to choose to allow Rosalyn to close all of their open applications on their behalf.

A confirmation prompt will appear asking the examinee to confirm that they would like to allow Rosalyn to close all of their open applications for them.

  2. Close the Application through the System Tray:

Sometimes, applications remain open within the Windows System Tray. Hover over an icon to determine which Application it is. To close the Application, right-click on the Icon and choose to close the application through the popup menu. Here is an example where Slack is still open in the System Tray:

  3. Close the Application through the task manager:

Sometimes, applications remain open within the Windows Task Manager.

Windows 10 - To open the Task Manager, press Ctrl+shift+Esc, or right-click the Windows taskbar and select “Task Manager.” Under the Processes tab, locate the application that you need to close. Right-click on the process's name and then select End Task.

  4. Last Option - Restart your computer:

If none of the above options work, then it is recommended that you close Rosalyn, restart your computer, and then return to your Rosalyn exam.
