Rosalyn works with your existing Canvas exam. Just create an exam, assign it to your examinees and then enable Rosalyn Proctoring. Rosalyn must be enabled on the exam in order for examinees to launch the Rosalyn app.

For Rosalyn to work, please ensure that you have at least one Canvas Exam created in your course.

  • Rosalyn provides lock-down and proctoring capabilities for your exams. This means that you can use all of Canvas Exam properties as you normally would (draft vs published, availability dates, accommodations, etc).

Note: Rosalyn currently only supports Canvas “Classic” Exams. Rosalyn is planning to support Canvas “New” Exams in a beta release in Q2 2022.

Start in a course:

  • Log in to Canvas using your credentials, and then navigate to a Course.

  • Within your Course’s Navigation, you should now see “Rosalyn”. Click on Rosalyn.

Note: In order for Rosalyn to work within your Canvas course, please ensure that the following two navigation links are visible:

    • Rosalyn

    • Quizzes

  • On your Rosalyn Dashboard, you will see a list of the Canvas Exams in your course.

To the right of each exam, you will see a slider switch. To enable Rosalyn, click on this switch. When you click on the switch, a popup window will appear that will allow you to choose the Proctoring settings for the exam:

    • Real-time proctoring = Designed for high-stakes assessments, real-time proctoring monitors live events during the exam session. A final review of Rosalyn’s proctoring is still required for each examinee.

    • Lock-down = This option turns off all of Rosalyn’s proctoring capabilities (both live and post-session review). In Lock-Down, Rosalyn prevents the examinee from relying on external sources during the exam.

The first screen that appears after clicking “enable proctoring" is “Select Proctoring Type”. You can select Real Time or Lock Down (Real-Time is preselected, and the Next button is enabled).

  • Once you have decided which proctoring type fits the exam better, click on the next button to select the rules that apply to a particular exam. (Learn more about the Exam Settings).

Note: You can only enable Rosalyn on exams that have no current examinee attempts.
