Grammarly sometimes can be hard to fully close and to quit all processes that it left running even when you close it.
Mac OS
Step 1: Quit Grammarly
If Grammarly is running, go to the menu bar, click on Grammarly, and select Quit.
If Grammarly appears closed but you are still unable to continue with your exam, background processes may still be running.
Step 2: Check for Background Processes in Activity Monitor
Open Activity Monitor (you can find it using Spotlight search).
Look for Grammarly processes. Usually, there are 2 processes left running, but sometimes there may be more.
Close Processes - Method 1
Double-click on a Grammarly process.
Select Quit, then choose Force Quit.
Be patient—sometimes it may take a few minutes for the process to fully close.
Close Processes - Method 2
If Activity Monitor doesn’t work, try closing Grammarly through System Settings:
Open System Settings → Login Items & Extensions.
Under App Background Activity, locate Grammarly.
If Grammarly is turned on, switch it off. This should stop the processes.
If Grammarly is already off, toggle it on to restart the app. Then:
Quit the Grammarly application from the menu bar.
Go back to App Background Activity and switch Grammarly off again. This should fully stop all processes.
