How to Disable Inline Predictive Text and Autocorrect on macOS

This guide shows how to disable autocorrect and predictive text on macOS for a more personalized typing experience.

Step 1: Access System Settings

  1. Click the Apple Menu in the upper-left corner of your screen.

  2. Select System Settings (or System Preferences, depending on your macOS version).

Step 2: Navigate to Keyboard Settings

  1. In the System Settings window, locate and click Keyboard in the left-hand menu.

  2. This section allows you to adjust various keyboard-related preferences.

Step 3: Edit Text Input Settings

  1. Within the Keyboard settings, locate the Text Input section.

  2. Click the Edit button next to Text Input to access advanced settings.

Step 4: Disable Inline Predictive Text and Autocorrect

  1. In the Text Input editing menu, find the following options:

    • Correct Spelling Automatically

    • Inline Predictive Text

2. Toggle both options off to deactivate autocorrect and predictive text and click Done.

Step 5: Save Changes

Your adjustments will be applied immediately. Simply close the System Settings window to finalize the changes.

Disabling autocorrect and inline predictive text on macOS offers a more customized and distraction-free typing experience. If you wish to re-enable these features, follow the same steps and toggle the settings back on.
